We are here for the important moments in life

Church communities have always marked important stages of life with special services. Here are details of some of the celebrations and memorials we offer at St Stephen’s with St Julian’s churches

Christenings

A Christening (also called baptism) marks the beginning of the Christian journey for an individual within the church, and is a joyful family celebration. Adults of any age can decide to take this step for themselves. Parents can also bring their children to be christened. Please contact one of the clergy if you want to find out more and want to book a date for a Christening.

Weddings

You’re welcome to marry in church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you go to church. If you live in the parish or have another sort of connection to the parish church we will be able to marry you, and want to help and support you. Please contact the parish office to find out more and about how to book a wedding.

Funerals and Burial of Ashes Services

Everyone who lives in the parish is able to ask their parish Priest to lead a funeral service for their loved one who has died. This can either be in the parish church or at the crematorium. In both cases the service will be tailored to meet the families wishes. The choice of music and readings is up to the family and any number of family members or friends may speak. Services in church can be followed by a cremation or burial (either in our churchyard or at another cemetery).

Local people who live in the parish can also have their ashes buried in St Stephen’s churchyard. Please contact one of the clergy to discuss your particular needs.
